So.....a couple of years ago I interviewed the writer Sergio De La Pava about his novel Lost Empress. We had to work around De La Pava's schedule as a public defender; we ended up chatting on a Friday night. And when I went to transcribe the interview, all I got was.....static.
Because the recorder's microphone was ever-so-slightly out of the jack.
A week later, we did the whole thing again, and this time the recording worked. It remains pretty high on my list of OH GOD OH GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE professional experiences.
